Everyone who works the circ desk needs to be able to place reserves. They also need to be able to explain to the patron how to do this from home in person and on the phone.
If the patron cannot place a reserve due to being blocked someone needs to be able to explain why during all open hours.
If the quesiton is received by email then it should be answered ASAP; with in the first 4 hours of the first business day after being send.

NCLIVE @ Home
I think everyone who answers the phone (or at least someone is always available during all open hours) can explain how to access NCLIVE at home. On the phone and in person.
If the person is blocked someone needs to be able to look at the patron record and explain why. Again this is something that needs to be answered right a way if we are open.

Workshop evaluation
Jackie - The workshop was interesting, insightful, and balanced between the morning and afternoon . The morning stretched us in that we had to think about a daily activity and the steps involved. We all realized that we know more than we think we do and that we can do more than we give ourselves credit for. Some of us may actually be teaching skills to patrons, but because it is not in a formal environment, or may not require a great deal of time, don't consider it "teaching".
It is also encouraging to discover that one is not alone with problems or issues. It helps us feel that we are all part of the whole in trying to deliver quality library service.
Thank you for including the Roxio demonstration. Hands-on activities such as this are helpful. I wonder if there is a need for a one page guide that we could hand to patrons as needed. This is another discussion entirely, so we don't need to address that here.
Thank you for your time and effort.

Thank You
Thank you for all the great feedback. Remember if you think of ideas post them here.
I just thought of one:
Everyone needs to know how to tell if security is ON or OFF on the public computers.
What do you think. You can click on comment and add your thoughts.

Core Competency Training Evaluation
Hi Jackie,
I think the training workshop is a good idea. It was nice to hear everyone's feelings and opinions on different issues, and it would probably be a good idea to do it on a regular basis so similar questions at each branch can be resolved quickly. The workshop was well organized and easy to follow. And snacks are always a good thing.... ;-) Thank you!

Workshop Evaluation
Jackie,
I think you did a good job, too. Core competencies are defnitely important to define-- that way one or two people don't end up being the only ones knowing how to do something that everyone (or most everyone) else should know how to do, too. (And it's good to know who should meet what level of competencies.)

Workshop Evaluation
Jackie--
Although I was not present for the entire presentation, I thought you did great! Coming from a smaller library, it's clear that core competencies is very important. When I was at the smaller library, the entire staff knew where everything was and how to do most everything. Now being in a larger library, I sometimes feel left out of the loop. For instance, I was using the copier and needed to change the toner. I kinda knew where the supplies were, but no idea on how to change it. I asked, got instructions, and it is probably one of the easiest tasks here. Go figure! Thanks again for the workshop. Perhaps it will lead to further instruction for everyone.
