Reserves

Everyone who works the circ desk needs to be able to place reserves. They also need to be able to explain to the patron how to do this from home in person and on the phone.

If the patron cannot place a reserve due to being blocked someone needs to be able to explain why during all open hours.
If the quesiton is received by email then it should be answered ASAP; with in the first 4 hours of the first business day after being send.

  1. Yes, I agree with Jackie this is something that we should learn the first week we are here, it is such a helpful resource that the library provides, and by teaching the patron how to reserve their own materials makes our jobs easier too. Plus- now that staff can do it from the OPAC we have the advantage of seeing what they see which it makes it easier to teach them how over the phone. And it makes things so much faster, and we all know how important speed is when you have a line waiting and you are trying to give the best service to everyone.
